Cullman to Monmouth, IL 2/25 to 2/26

We certainly enjoyed the warmth of the south as we headed north. We new the temperature would fall the more miles we drove north. Driving through Kentucky we were amazed at the damage done by the recent ice storms that devastated the area. For miles and miles, the trees lining the freeways were destroyed.
When we entered Illinois, we began to see old snow that had been pushed in piles. The further we drove north, the more "fresh" the snow became. 4 week-old snow became 3 weeks old until we reached Monmouth. The temperature was not too bad when we arrived. The ironic thing was that the cold that was in the north went south. Instead of "Stars Falling on Alabama" (it's a song) snow fell in the south including Atlanta. We were in the icy north when the south and east were being hit by a major snowstorm. We have been fortunate in every way on our trip, especially the driving weather. We are always aware and mindful that when we are driving in the nice weather, their are others having to deal with driving in the poor weather in other parts of the country. We admire the long haul truck drivers greatly.

The Monmouth venue was a special place, held at the Dahl Chapel on the grounds of Monmouth College. The college is gracious to the concert association as they donate the use of their facilities for the concerts. We had the privilege of playing for students in the Monmouth area.
